Services

Full-service rigging, Bay Area roots

Richmond workshop. On-boat service across the Bay. The same crew that answers the phone builds your lines.

Panda Rigging is a working rigging shop — not a call center. Whether you need a written survey, a full running rig package, lifelines, winch service, or a deck layout that makes sense under pressure, we approach the work with technical clarity and restraint.

Rigging surveys & consultation

A clear picture of what you are sailing with

Complete inspection of standing rigging, running rigging, spars, and deck hardware. Written findings and practical recommendations — including pre-purchase surveys when you need an independent eye.

View capability

Standing rigging

Rod, wire, or synthetic — specified for the program

Replacement and tuning of standing rigging: rod, wire, or Dynex Dux where synthetic is the right tool. Partial or complete re-rig, with tension and geometry set for how the boat is actually sailed.

View capability

Running rigging

Halyards, sheets, and control lines built for your hardware

Custom running rigging: halyards, sheets, guys, outhauls, cunninghams, reefing lines — built in our shop to diameter, construction, and splice schedule that match your clutches, winches, and sheaves.

View capability

Lifelines

Inspection, replacement, and modern synthetic options

Wire lifelines checked for broken strands and swage concerns. Replacement sets in 12-strand Dyneema where appropriate — lighter, kinder on hands, and terminated without cold-worked swages at the eye.

View capability

Winch service

Disassembly, inspection, and correct reassembly

Full winch service: strip, clean, inspect pawls, springs, bearings, and races; replace worn parts; regrease to manufacturer practice. Lewmar, Harken, Andersen.

View capability

Deck layouts

Cleaner leads, fewer mistakes under pressure

Re-routing control lines for clearer ergonomics: blocks, cars, clutches, and stoppers positioned so the right line is obvious when the breeze builds.

View capability

Custom fabrication

One-off deck and rig solutions

When the catalog does not fit — custom metalwork concepts, composite parts, and integrated solutions discussed in the shop and built to the boat.

Process

How we work with owners and programs

01

Listen

We start with how you sail, where the boat lives, and what success looks like — not a parts list you guessed from a forum.

02

Specify

Diameter, construction, terminations, and hardware are chosen against your mast, deck, and clutch layout.

03

Build

In-shop splicing, fabrication, and bench checks. On-boat work when the job demands it.

04

Deliver

Clear handoff, inspection notes where relevant, and honest guidance on what to watch between visits.

Why Panda

Technical fluency without theatrics

Keith “Panda” Love brings two decades on the water — charter, racing, and rigging — in the Caribbean, New Zealand, and the Bay. The shop bias is toward solutions you can maintain and inspect, not complexity for its own sake.
